Stepping into Student Life
It is 11:20 am Limerick time. I have just finished a bit of breakfast in my hotel and will leave at Noon for the University and my new life as a student. As I rode the elevator up to my room to finish gathering my things, I felt a rush of emotion, tears setting in. I am filled with emotion, joyous emotion and anticipation for what is to come. I have known for almost a year now that this was where I was headed, this is what I needed to be doing. Every preparation and action for the last 11 months has been to create the circumstances to make attending the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance a truth, my reality. In less then an hour I will begin my immersion into student life. I realize as I write that I have given myself a full month to make the transition before my classes actually begin. I will use this time to prepare academically, a brush up on music theory, discussions with my advisor about the coursework, connections with other wisdom traditions, and perhaps I will find time for a short respite at the nearby Glenstal Abbey to immerse myself in the Gregorian Chant tradition that will be the core of my study. My tears are ones of gratitude for everyones' love and support that helped to bring me to this place in my life and in the world. I am excited, I am peaceful, I am ready. I am here. Stay tuned.
