A Quiet Studious Day

There was lots of activity today in Thomond Village, my home away from home. While I spent a good part of the day reading and working through a music theory workbook, students were arriving to take up residence for the coming academic year. I though that my roommate, still a mystery person, would arrive today since we have orientation for international students tomorrow morning. But that was not the case. I remain the single occupant of Bluebird House, apartment 43 for a little longer. I will keep you posted.

In addition to studying I did some cooking and am set for the week with eggplant Parmesan, mustard chicken, roasted vegetables, and more. I am trying to eat healthy and walk as much as possible. I was in most of the day, but headed out this evening along my favorite path and it did not fail me. The swans werevery near the shore and I was able to watch the mother swan ready to protect her two young if need be from a spaniel that decided to plunge into the water very near to the three water fowl. A little hissing and some posturing but the dog seemed to have the good sense to come out of the water while the getting was good and to chase down the path after his master. A little further down I spotted the male swan stuck in a strong current, and I stood by cheering him on. He was struggling against the force of the water, but eventually succeeded, and on the way back the whole family was peacefully floating in the current, heads submerged and hunting for supper I suppose.

That was essentially my day, productive and relaxing. I am heading to bed early so I am on my game tomorrow at orientation. I am looking forward to meeting other students and beginning the academic year.

I hope your day as been relaxing as well. Sending love from UL. More tomorrow from Glocca Morra.
