My life is filled with singing. This is joyously my singular focus right now. It is about singing well, learning new ways of singing, singing in new languages, learning new songs, singing by myself, singing with others, singing to the Divine. I am thinking about and writing about singing, about chant, cantillation, psalmody and modal music. It is all about singing right now and so I share this poem with you.
Sing the Song
Sing the song,
the one that lights a fire,
a passion in your heart.
Sing of a passion
that kindles the sacred spark of knowing
at the deepest soul level.
Sing of a joy that ignites a fevor,
a bliss that comes
from being at One.
Sing out - sing from the heart.
Express your joy, bliss, love.
Sing a song that lifts the hearts of all who hear you.
Sing of the Source, of the Universe.
Sing of the sacred, the holy.
Sing of the angels, the spirits, the guides.
Sing of the best of humanity -
of compassion and kindness,
gentleness and acceptance,
honor and gratitude,
service and love.
Sing it ALL

A Sea of Silence
I am sitting peacefully after a busy day touring Gort and Galway City in County Clare. Nothing remarkable to report and I am in need of some quiet time. I just glanced out my window to look at the River Shannon this evening. As the sun sets is reflects as silver on the water. Moonlight in the day light, I have written about that before. What is particularly striking this evening is the stillness of the river. I am inspired by the Shannon to share this poem. The adventurous Marsha will return tomorrow. The question is, will she be wearing socks?
A Sea of Silence
In a sea of silence
my breath rises up and down
like the waves of a great ocean
that rocks and rolls to the rhythms
and challenges of life.
Underneath there is a stillness,
a sense of perfect calm,
a base of stability
that is the underlying assurance
that all of life is an outpouring
of infinite wisdom and love.
In the stillness lies the answer
for all of life's complexities.
The journey is glorious.
The sojourner is One.

NOW
Now... this moment.
Notice it.
Breathe it.
Share it.
Accept it.
Value it.
Appreciate it.
Savor it.
Live it truthfully.
Live it joyfully.
There is only now.
Notice it.
Breathe it.
Share it.
Accept it.
Value it.
Appreciate it.
Savor it.
Live it truthfully.
Live it joyfully.
There is only now.

Hidden Treasure
There is hidden treasure.
It is within each of us.
It is the treasure of life ~ of human existence.
Love and joy in the knowing and the being.
Hidden treasure.
One must search.
The search is in the asking.
The search is in the breathing.
The search is through the heart,
beyond the mind.
Come and I shall show you how to search.
And what you will find
is joy and love,
guidance and clarity.
Listen to the wind.
Observe its gentle ease or its ferocity.
Which do you prefer?
Listen to your heart.
Hear its love or its fear.
Which do you prefer?
Listen to the stillness after the wind settles down.
Feel that same stillness in your heart.
The treasure you seek is within your stillness.
Sit quietly.
Learn to become still.
Contemplate.
Ask for answers.
Trust that they will be revealed to you.
There is joy hidden in your heart.
Discover it.
There is knowing hidden in your heart.
Seek it.
There is you hidden in your heart.
Find you.
For it is I.
It is within each of us.
