It turns out that I will not be traveling to the UK for Christmas afterall. It is still snowing in Wales and my flat mate called to tell me they are snowed in today. The weather is still precarious and many of the airports in Ireland and the UK are closed or experiencing delays and cancellations. We have had freezing fog for the last two days in Limerick. It is quite mysterious as you will see by the picture below.
So what I will do? Go to Plan B, of course. I have offered to host Christmas Day dinner for anyone remaining in the student village who would like to come. I have talked with all three of my guests and they sound delightful. I am over joyed at the prospect of entertaining and really happy to bring together international students who will not be able to travel home during the semester break.
So now I have to plan my menu and head to the market tomorrow for all the ingredients. That will be as much fun as the cooking and entertaining.
I will miss being with Angela and her family. I was also planning to head to London to visit with my friend Ram Roy, but I will also need to reschedule that. I have an open invitation and may still get there after the first of the year.
So I hope that you enjoy this picture. I took it yesterday about Noon. It is a winter wonderland on the River Shannon and there is no snow. This mystical, this most magical sight, is a result of freezing fog.
More soon. Love from Glocca Morra
