Singing the Virtues of Skype

The days are flying by,the pace is perfect, but I keep looking up an all of sudden it is 7:30 p.m. How does that happen? I guess I am fully engaged in the moment and that is a good place to be. Today I spent part of my time becoming a Skype aficionado, if there is such a thing, which I am not. But I have downloaded the program and am able to make phone calls to family and friends for next to nothing. I talked with my Aunt Helen yesterday and our call cost only .06 cents. I love knowing I can stay connected in this way I realize that I am loving the emails I am getting, thank you all, and that this sense of connection to everyone is so important. And now Skype adds a whole new dimension. Today I talked with my Uncle Lenny and Aunt Irma in Palm Beach, my friend Robert in Woodstock, NY and conversed IM on Skpye with nephew Jason in Pittsburgh, who knows,I may be calling you soon!

So as I was saying, the day went quickly. Mostly I spent time doing research of various things on the Internet, from articles on Georgian Chant on the New York Times website,get-aways in Ireland, to airfares to London and to Ithaca.
At breakfast, I shared some my left over fritatta with Sinead, my Irish roommate from County Galway. She is just here this week to work on her thesis. She invited me to walk over to campus with her to the library and showed me a faster route to the center of things than I had been taking. She also showed my around the library and then we went to the Scholars Club, a great restaurant in the student center to have a cup of coffee. It was terrific to have this insiders tour and gets some tips about the library, the campus, and Limerick City.

Tomorrow I will buckle down and hit the books again. I have been here a full two weeks now and remain content and excited about my studies and this journey I am on.
