The quest to understand our true nature is as ancient as human existence. It has been answered in some form by all the major religions and debated through time by the world's great philosophers. But the the information provided by texts, teachers, and clergy is only a part of the equation. The journey to discover one's self and universal truth is ultimately a very personal one. It is an inward journey that takes us beyond the mind, past the ego, and right to the heart of our true nature and our Divine connection. It is where we you can hear the voice of our souls.
My own spiritual practice is one of chanting-meditation. Over the years I have learned the many benefits of chanting. It is an avenue, especially for those just beginning to meditate, that allows one to quiet the chattering mind and shift inward more quickly than perhaps concentrating solely on the breath. Singing is about breath, but it is the addition of melody, frequencies of notes and words, rhythms and repetition that can help transport us to new places. I'll talk more about chanting another day.
Namaste,
Marsha
